The corporate affairs function at tml Partners has placed a candidate into the communications team at the Sahamiye Foundation

The Sahamiye Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that focuses on using technology and innovation to tackle Somaliland’s most pressing development challenges. They are using the latest technologies to make literacy more accessible to people across the Horn of Africa. Through their various projects, they aim to raise the nation’s literacy levels, help thousands of people to develop their skills for employment, improve the nation’s health by supporting health education and provisions, and to support improving infrastructure in the region. 

The Challenge

The successful appointment would need to develop and implement an effective external communications strategy to help raise awareness of the foundation and its successful projects across the UK and the US. It was an exciting new role for the foundation to help develop its positive reputation in the market.

The Solution

Izzy Greaves and Naomi Hamilton, specialist corporate communications headhunters at tml Partners, worked closely with Shibani Kaushik (Trustee and Director of Sahamiye Foundation) to develop an understanding of the foundation and their communications requirements. Izzy and Naomi used their extensive network of Communications professionals to present a shortlist of candidates to Shibani who had extensive PR and Media experience, relationships with key media stakeholders across the UK and US, and the ability to implement and execute a communications strategy.
