Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Chief Business Development Officer, the Head of Business Development will drive the firm’s global client development strategy, with a focus on deepening client relationships, identifying new revenue opportunities, and supporting the growth of key practice groups. This is a high-impact leadership role that requires a strategic thinker with proven experience in driving BD programs that align with partner goals and market dynamics.
This individual will collaborate with senior leadership, partners, and practice group heads to shape and execute client development initiatives, lead key account management programs, and optimize BD operations and performance metrics. They will also mentor a high-performing team, oversee pitch and proposal strategies, and help the firm maintain its elite positioning in a competitive global marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the global business development strategy, in close collaboration with firm leadership and the wider marketing and communications teams.
- Support partner-led initiatives to grow existing client relationships and win new business, including cross-selling across practices and jurisdictions.
- Oversee strategic client account programs, thought leadership campaigns, and industry targeting initiatives.
- Drive innovation across business development processes, using data and insights to continuously improve effectiveness and ROI.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing team across key business development functions, ensuring alignment with firmwide goals.
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders and maintain an in-depth understanding of the firm’s market position, client base, and competitive landscape.
Candidate Profile
- A commercial and strategic BD leader with a track record of success in professional services, preferably Legal with deep expertise within Litigation and Arbitration.
- Deep understanding of client development, account management, and go-to-market strategy in a global context.
