G.Network is creating a 21st Century fibre network that will future proof London’s broadband for decades to come. The company is a 100% fibre ultra-fast internet service provider (ISP) focusing on delivering reliable broadband speeds of up to 1 Gbps to Londoners city-wide.

Founded in 2016, G.Network has grown significantly through several rounds of funding beginning with Albion Capital and Cube Infrastructure Fund II raising c.£60m and £75m in respective rounds and helping enable the roll out of their ambitious plans at exhilarating speed. This was followed by raising £1bn in Dec 2020 in a further round which turbocharged their growth strategies and established G.Network of one of the leading Alt Network ISPs in the UK.

In the autumn of 2019, Douglas Grierson – Sales & Marketing Director, having recently joined the business as a board director, began creating a cohesive sales strategy targeting London residents and SMEs. As demand developed throughout the London boroughs Douglas was acutely aware he needed to bring in a senior leadership team across his strategic marketing function to deliver his vision, increase awareness of the brand, drive qualified leads through the funnel and to streamline stakeholder communications.

Peter Bush and Simon Bassett of tml Partners were invited to help advise Douglas on his options around how to build a best in class marketing function for G.Network. Having discussed the business priorities at length, we advised him to begin with their heads of department which comprised of a Head of Performance Marketing, a Head of Communications, a Head of Customer Experience and a Head of Product with a view that once these function heads were in place, they could lead the recruitment of their own teams. This constituted a project of recruitment for the whole marketing and communications team and around 8 important hires initially.

We were delighted to be instructed on the first phase of the project on an exclusive basis and appointed: Head of Marketing Performance – Dan Titley; a Head of Communications – Mark Detre and Nicola Langley as Head of Customer Experience.

In December 2020 following the announcement of £1bn investment and with the newly appointed heads of department settled in roles, this then paved the way to begin the next phase of recruitment.  Peter and Emma Calder worked in close partnership with Dan Titley, who we had placed as Head of Performance, to help build out his team.

In 2021 we have been delighted to have filled the additional positions of Web Channel Manager, Senior Campaign Performance Manager, Social and Content Manager  with a CRM manager and Design Manager close to being completed.

This project has been particularly rewarding for tml Partners because it showcases our strength in giving council and advise to clients when they need to shape a whole marketing function consisting of multiple hires from department heads through to hiring marketing specialities within teams. tml Partners have been delighted to use their expertise and knowledge to secure a first class team of marketers for G. Network at this critical time as they rapidly scale and we are excited to see what 2022 will bring.
