A leading global law firm is seeking a strategic and collaborative Business Development Associate Director to support its high-performing Litigation and Investigations practice. This role sits within a forward-thinking business development function focused on driving growth, strengthening client relationships, and positioning the firm at the forefront of the market.
Working closely with senior leadership, practice heads, and cross-functional teams, this individual will play a key role in shaping and executing business development strategy across the litigation practice. The position offers broad exposure to firm-wide initiatives, including client development, cross-selling, and market intelligence.
This role can be based in New York or Washington D.C.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with senior business development leadership to define and execute strategic priorities across practice areas, client teams, industries, and geographies
- Collaborate with marketing leadership to deliver business development initiatives aligned to individual lawyers, the litigation practice, and broader firm objectives
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and client developments to identify opportunities and inform strategic decisions
- Conduct client, prospect, and industry research in collaboration with internal intelligence teams
- Support the planning and execution of events, sponsorships, speaking engagements, and thought leadership campaigns
- Lead the preparation of pitch materials and RFP responses, coordinating across multiple practice groups where required
- Oversee submissions for legal directories and industry awards in partnership with content and communications teams
- Maintain and enhance marketing and business development systems, including CRM data, matter descriptions, biographies, and website content
About You
- Experience in business development or marketing within a professional services environment, ideally within a legal setting focused on litigation
- Strong understanding of litigation terminology, processes, and court filings
- Highly analytical, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise insights and materials
- Proven project management capabilities with a focus on execution and measurable outcomes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and tight deadlines
- Proactive, resourceful, and solutions-oriented mindset
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to investigations or regulatory-related practices
- Familiarity with legal and market research platforms such as Bloomberg Law, Lex Machina, MLex, or similar tools
- Experience working with CRM systems such as InterAction or equivalent
- Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel for producing high-quality client-facing materials
