We are partnered with a global law firm who are seeking an ambitious Senior Business Development Manager to drive growth across its high-value energy and natural resources sector globally. Operating as a key strategic advisor within an international firm of 3,000 people, this individual will take ownership of one of the organisation’s most prominent industry groups. Positioned at the intersection of transactional practice and high-stakes commodity trading litigation, the role represents an exceptional opportunity to shape international commercial strategy from the London office.
Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Global Senior Director for BD, you will co-lead the sector function alongside a US counterpart while managing direct reports in both the UK and North America. The position carries extensive strategic ownership, encompassing profile-raising initiatives, targeted client acquisition, and high-value campaign oversight. Working directly with dynamic practice leaders and partners, you will craft targeted initiatives to capitalise on emerging opportunities across oil, commodities trading, and broader energy markets.
Beyond campaign delivery, this role focuses heavily on senior stakeholder engagement and internal influence. You will act as a consultative partner to dozens of international lawyers, advising on market positioning, client relationship management, and cross-border growth. Supported by a dedicated pitching and legal operations team, you will focus on high-impact advisory work, fostering cross-functional alignment and building effective alliances across global offices.
The Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate will bring business development leadership within a sophisticated corporate, legal, or professional services environment. Proven expertise in managing direct reports is essential, alongside a demonstrated ability to influence senior partners with credibility and commercial acuity. Professionals offering high-level business development acumen from management consultancy, or broader professional services are strongly encouraged to apply, as deep sector specialisation is secondary to strategic vision, enthusiasm, and leadership strength.
You will possess a strong track record of driving commercial growth within a global environment, initiating sector-focused campaigns, and bringing a proactive mindset to complex matrix organisations. This role suits an articulate, highly motivated professional who excels at engaging key stakeholders, converting strategic ideas into tangible revenue, and thriving within a collaborative culture.
