A leading global law firm is seeking a Business Development Specialist to support several of its litigation practices, including Product Liability & Mass Torts, M&A Litigation, Employment, and Commercial Litigation. This partner-facing role works closely with senior business development leadership and attorneys across multiple U.S. offices to execute high-impact business development and marketing initiatives.
The Specialist will play a hands-on role in advancing practice group objectives through pitches, proposals, directory and awards submissions, events, market research, and client development efforts. This position offers meaningful exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to contribute directly to the firm’s litigation growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development Execution & Practice Support
- Collaborate with senior business development leaders and cross-practice BD teams to support litigation-focused initiatives.
- Prepare and coordinate pitches, RFP responses, and supporting materials for partners and practice groups, including cross-practice opportunities.
- Develop, maintain, and update standard marketing materials, experience descriptions, and practice collateral.
- Support practice group development initiatives, including matter management and matter intelligence processes.
Directories, Awards & Market Visibility
- Coordinate and manage directory submissions (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500) in collaboration with lawyers and internal content teams.
- Assist with awards submissions and visibility initiatives that enhance practice and attorney profiles.
Client Development & Market Intelligence
- Conduct market, industry, and competitor research to identify client prospects and new business opportunities.
- Monitor and report on client development activity to surface relationship-strengthening opportunities.
- Partner with competitive intelligence resources to produce research in support of pitches, prospecting, and strategic initiatives.
- Support firm-wide cross-selling efforts and broader strategic priorities.
Events & External Engagement
- Assist with the planning and execution of client events, seminars, and practice-related programs.
- Coordinate with internal teams to evaluate speaking opportunities, conference participation, and sponsorships that enhance visibility.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in business development or client development within professional services, including at least two years supporting litigation practices in a law firm environment.
- Strong working knowledge of litigation terminology, court systems, litigation stages, and marketing to litigation clients.
- Demonstrated interest in and curiosity about the business of litigation.

- Familiarity with litigation and corporate intelligence tools (e.g., docket analytics, legal research platforms) preferred.
- Exposure to legal-focused AI tools is a plus.
