Embracing B Corp Month, Empowering Tomorrow

B Corp Month is the perfect opportunity to reflect on our journey as an executive search firm committed not only to business excellence but also to social and environmental responsibility. Being a Certified B Corporation has always been more than just a badge of honour for us; it’s about alignment with our core values and our dedication to making a positive impact on the world around us.

One of the hallmarks of our B Corp certification is our commitment to our Community Partners via The Tomorrow Foundation. We utilise our understanding of personal branding, job-seeking, commercial acumen, and people management to support City Gateway, Resurgo and 20/20 Levels.

  • City Gateway is a charity that exists to give everyone an equal chance to change the future. They work with young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). They provide skills development courses, work-based training, placements and apprenticeships.
  • Resurgo is an organisation that connects, envisions, trains and supports people to ‘transform society together’ through high-impact and scalable enterprises. Their initiatives include the Spear Programme which ‘ignites a vision of the possible’ in unemployed 16- 24 year olds.
  • 20/20 Levels is a social mobility organisation dedicated to empowering Black and racially underrepresented young people. Their mission is to maximise their potential by providing pathways to success, whether it’s landing that dream job, building a business, or simply finding their direction.

tml Partners support these organisations through a variety of activities, including:

  • Mock interviews to prepare job-seekers for the recruitment process
  • Mentoring to help young people decide their career path
  • LinkedIn masterclass to develop a professional network and personal brand
  • Marketing 101 sessions to highlight the breadth of career opportunities in the marketing sector

The team have also loved supporting other local initiatives in recent months, including:

  • FoodCycle – FoodCycle is a UK charity that combines surplus food, spare kitchen spaces and volunteers to create three-course meals for people at risk of food poverty and social isolation.
  • Euston Foodbank – Euston Food Bank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis.
  • Bow Foodbank – Bow Foodbank is a charity that exists to provide food and emergency items to people in crisis in Tower Hamlets.

We have also been privileged enough to support Dig Deep, a charity that believes everyone has a fundamental right to clean water, safe toilets, and good hygiene through the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goal Six. We have supported Dig Deep by fundraising to support the provision of clean water, sanitation and good hygiene in Bomet County, Kenya. The team at tml Partners set about fundraising for Dig Deep throughout 2023 partaking in Tough Mudder races and the London 10 Peaks Marathon Challenge, raising over £8,300, which will be enough to provide clean water for 1000 people, a primary school, and a secondary school.

Furthermore, environmental sustainability is a cause close to our hearts, and we are passionate about doing our part to protect and preserve our planet for future generations. Through initiatives like:

  • Tree planting: We actively work to offset our carbon footprint and promote biodiversity by planting trees, volunteering for ProtectEarth to plant over 4,000 trees in the Surrey countryside. As well as this hands on approach, we invest in tree planting on behalf of our Clients and Candidates, planting a tree for every completed assignment. We do this in partnership with Ecologi, the UK’s leading platform for climate projects, and have so far invested in over 2800 trees.
  • Personal environmental targets: Each team member at tml Partners has their own targets to reduce their carbon footprint, with an approach developed to be relative to their lifestyle. This could include less short-haul flights, eating organically or draught-proofing their home. This is actioned and tracked by GikiZero and the sustainability team at tml.
  • Fleet Street Environmental Group: This group was set up by tml Partners in collaboration with the team at Workspace who have housed the tml Partners office for over 7 years. The group brings Workspace tenants together to think about ways to incorporate more sustainable practices across the entire building. In the regular meetings, joint tenant projects have been developed to help with waste management, water usage and energy consumption. It’s also been a productive way to promote our B Corp status and advise other Fleet Street companies of the benefits.

Our dedication to being a B Corp extends beyond a mere title; it’s ingrained in everything we do. As we move through 2024, we’re not slowing down. Each pillar of our B Corp status has a dedicated team behind it, ensuring we continue to meet and exceed the standards we’ve set for ourselves.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come on our B Corp journey, and we’ve got a clear plan for how we’ll continually improve. Please see our latest B Corp Annual Impact Report to find out more about our ESG mission and commitments for the year ahead.
