The US-based business recently expanded their operations internationally and as such the business was  looking to appoint a new Head of Marketing & Sales to support their customers in the UK and Europe.

The Head of Marketing & Sales role would be the first in-house senior marketing hire and a critical contributor to the growth of business by driving their marketing agenda and bringing a strategic, creative and customer-led approach. Reporting into the President of MedPro, Rhonda Buege, this person would also work closely with the senior leadership team across MedPro International and the broader MedPro Group.

tml Partners were introduced to Rhonda by another CMO in the B2B Insurance sector, who is a good contact of the business. Malisha Patel and Emma Morrison of tml Partners met with Rhonda to understand the complexities of the business’ unique structure and the exciting journey they are on.

After speaking with Rhonda, it was clear they were looking for a highly seasoned marketer who would be the marketing SME, acting as a consultant to drive integrated marketing strategies aligned to business objectives and support the full customer journey. Most importantly, the successful candidate would have strong experience and history in the healthcare sector, in order to drive creative programmes that resonate with a variety of predominantly B2C and some B2B audiences (medical consultants and practitioners). This person would develop engaging propositions, deliver creative content and campaigns, and enhance the business’ digital presence in order to drive customer relationships, as well as putting in place sophisticated measurement tools to identify and improve ROI and marketing success.

As a new senior appointment in the business, cultural fit was going to be key. The individual would need to align to the company values and be a skilled communicator in order to engage internal stakeholders as well as external partners. This person would bring a highly commercial approach to the firm’s customer market strategy and demonstrate the confidence to influence at all levels, whilst being mindful of the firm’s ambitions, risk appetite and regulations.

Malisha Patel has a strong network of marketing contacts across the insurance network and the wider business has a good pool of candidates in the healthcare and health-tech space.  As a result, Malisha was able to very quickly identify and engage a mix of profiles across insurance and healthcare, which she submitted as a shortlist for this container search project.

Sam Flew immediately stood out and was invited to interview. She is an impressive and highly capable senior marketeer with significant experience in the healthcare space targeting both B2B and B2C audiences. Having worked in the private medical sector, she had excellent experience targeting a variety of healthcare professionals. She is able to use insights to drive segmentation, and develop integrated marketing strategies and propositions that drive customer experience. Sam is highly creative and had good digital experience. At One First, she introduced digital channels to the business and integrated this into an omni-channel programme.

In the end it came down to 2 individuals, but Sam Flew impressed all the stakeholders throughout and demonstrated her expert knowledge of the companies audience group. Sam was appointed as the new Head of Marketing and started in the role on 1st November 2021.
