At the start of this year Finola McDonnell, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at The Financial Times, got in touch with tml Partners, she had some fantastic news that some members of her team were going on maternity leave in April 2021. This meant that Finola needed to recruit two crucial mandates to the communications function, a Global Director of Communications and a Senior Communications Manager, both of which tml Partners were able to support on. Working closely with Finola, we were able to utilise our network to run the searches simultaneously.
On working with tml Partners, Fionla said:
‘We were very pleased to work with Tom and Naomi on filling these two critical roles in our communications team. They were as attentive and expert throughout the process as we have come to expect from tml Partners, and the search was fast, true to the brief and painless from start to finish. They provided a slate of excellent candidates for both positions and we are delighted to have Sophie and Mark on board.’
After a comprehensive search process, Mark Stainaland was appointed as the Senior Communications Manager and Sophie Knight was appointed as the Global Director of Communications, both on 12 months FTCs to support Finola and the global communications team.
Mark is an experienced communicator having worked for international organisations across external communications and media relations. Mark has previously held roles at Springer Nature, American Express and Weber Shandwick.
