Business Development Manager (Private Capital Markets)
tml Partners have partnered with a leading, global Law practise to appoint a highly motivated and professional Business Development Manager (BDM) to join their team, leading on Private Capital Markets. The BDM will serve as a trusted advisor to the wider team, providing strategic and practical business development support. This role requires close collaboration with partners and business support colleagues to drive revenue growth and enhance client relationships.
Please note – this role can be New York or Boston based, hybrid set up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy Development: Develop and execute business development and marketing strategies for the Private Equity Transactions group, aiming to generate new business and improve market visibility
- Client Targeting: Identify and target new clients, while fostering and strengthening relationships with existing clients
- Product Delivery: Deliver practice group products and knowledge marketing to the appropriate client and market audience
- BD Meetings: Organize, participate in, and manage business development meetings, ensuring all aspects of client and target development efforts are proactively driven
- Market Research: Conduct in-depth market and industry research to support the BD strategy and keep abreast of market intelligence
- Pitch Management: Manage and execute large pitches, proposals, and Requests for Proposals (RfPs), leading a team to develop winning strategies, differentiate from competitors, and write compelling pitch content
- Fee Arrangements: Collaborate with finance to develop compelling and competitive fee arrangements
- Pitch Content: Maintain up-to-date pitch materials, content, and client information
- Advisory Role: Act as a trusted advisor to attorney teams, preparing for in-person meetings and pitches, and providing post-pitch client and target feedback
- Marketing Collaboration: Work with the marketing team and other business support colleagues to identify opportunities for integrated branding and profile-raising campaigns
- Conference Opportunities: Assess market conference opportunities, advise lawyers on selection, participation, and execution
- Knowledge Marketing: Identify the appropriate client and market targets for the delivery of knowledge marketing
- Team Development: Manage and develop junior members of the business development team, supporting their growth and development
- Training Support: Support the development and delivery of attorney-facing BD training programs
- Inter-departmental Knowledge: Build a strong working knowledge of adjacent practice and industry group services, understanding their strategies, priorities, and clients
- Best Practices: Communicate best practice business development activities and successes across the group
